A key difference lies in the driver technology: The DT 990 PRO is available in multiple impedance versions (80 ohms & 250 ohms) to suit different usage scenarios. In contrast, the DT 990 PRO X features the modern STELLAR.45 driver with 48 ohms, allowing it to be used with a wide range of playback devices without compromising sound quality.

The models also differ in terms of features: The DT 990 PRO has a fixed cable, while the DT 990 PRO X comes with a detachable 3-meter cable featuring a lockable mini-XLR connector.

Additionally, the DT 990 PRO X offers improved wearing comfort. An integrated recess in the headband at the fontanelle area reduces pressure on sensitive spots at the top of the head.
